To join the LESPFCU, bring the following documents:

• Two current identification cards (one must have your photo and signature)
• An identification number is required (at the discretion of LESPFCU):
  • SSN
  • ITIN
  • Other
• A minimum of $30 ($25 minimum deposit, plus a $5 membership fee)
• Photo identification can include a current driver’s license, passport, student ID or public assistance ID.
• Proof of address (examples):
  • current telephone, utility or cable bill
  • current lease or rent receipt
  • current clinic card showing the address
  • current HRS letter
  • voter card

If you do not live on the Lower East Side (Community Board 3), Central Harlem (Community Board 10), in an HDFC building or in a building that participates in the DAMP program, you must also provide proof of employment or association with an organization on the Lower East Side or Central Harlem or any of the following groups:

• Project Enterprise
• Lower East Side People’s Mutual Housing Authority
• Urban Homesteaders Assistant Board (UHAB)
• People’s Center for Economic Independence (PCEI)

Proof of place of employment address or association includes:

• pay stub with your name, and your employer’s name and address
• letter from employer or association on official letterhead

For example, if you do not live or work on the Lower East Side, but you volunteer at an organization or worship here, you would qualify for membership. You will need to provide all of the required documentation (i.e. 2 Valid IDs, SS Card, Proof of your home address), plus a letter from the organization you are affiliated with.
