Café Cortadito
The Lower East Side is full of independently run small businesses. This diversity is exemplified by the host of restaurants in the area. One of our favorites is the fine Cuban Cuisine of Café Cortadito.

LESPFCU on the news "The People’s Bank"
A neighborhood bank with a very different bottom line by Yori Yanover Jennifer Thomson, Director of Program Development for the Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union, takes me to a wall beside the tellers’ booths, to show me several black-and-white photographs from the 1980s. They were all taken outside the Manufacturers Hanover building on the corner of 3rd Street and Avenue B, and they show demonstrators who gathered outside the bank 21 years ago to stand up against the rampant drug dealing that was concentrated on that corner at the time.
