Annual Meeting: Board/Committee Nominations Notice

LES People’s FCU will hold its 31st Annual Meeting on June 10, 2017 at 37 Avenue B, corner of 3rd street and avenue B in the Lower East Side. Elections will not be conducted by ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor when there is only nominee for each position. Nominations should be submitted in writing by close of business May 1, 2017.

Nominations for vacancies may be made by petition signed by 1 percent of the members with a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 500.  In all cases, such nominations must be accompanied by a signed certificate from the nominee or nominees stating that they are agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office. BOARD OF DIRECTORS – The following members are seeking reelection to their current positions, for terms of 2 years:

Deyanira Del Rio – Current Board Chair
Credit union member since 2001 and Co-Director of the New Economy Project, one of our strongest partners. She joined the board in 2002, was elected Co-Chair in 2005, and became Chair in 2006. She previously served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the NFCDCU.

Linda Levy – Current Board Member and CEO
Credit union member since 1986. Linda served as the first manager of the Credit Union from 1986-1991. She served on the Board during 1991-1999, and re-elected in 2004. She has been CEO since 2005.

Gina Rusch – Current Board Member
Credit union member since 2014 following the merger with Union Settlement Federal Credit Union (USFCU). Gina is the former president of the Board of Directors of USFCU where she served for 34 years. She is also the retired Associate Executive Director of Union Settlement Association (USA) and the current assistant secretary of the Board of Directors of USA.

Millard “Mitty” Owens – Current Board Member
Credit union member since 2007. Mitty has extensive experience with credit unions and philanthropies. He is founder and principal of Community Impact, a consulting practice which provides technical assistance to non-profits and foundations with a social justice mission.

The following member has been appointed to the Board over the past year and is seeking election to a two year term.

Nilbia Coyote
Credit union member since 2017. Nilbia is currently the Education Coordinator for Qualitas of Life Foundation, a credit union partner which provides free financial education. Previously she worked in the Department of Consumer Affairs of the Mexican Consulate. She is a strong advocate for social justice, particularly regarding immigrants’ rights.
