Testimony Before the New York City Council Regarding IDNYC Program

On October 2nd, Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union testified, along with other organizations, in front of the City Council against the implementation of a smart-chip on the IDNYC card. We were represented by our Director of Communication and Community, Engagement Alicia Portada, who stated in her testimony: “Our communities don’t need more reloadable cards, we need to ensure that people can build assets and support the development of their communities.” Click to read testimony

Learn about the Community Equity Agenda

This month, we are focusing on our work with the state-wide coalition known as the Community Equity Agenda. This coalition consists of advocacy organizations, legal services organizations, labor unions, and other CDFIs (Community Development Financial Institutions) across New York State.  The top priority for this year is the funding of the New York State CDFI Fund.
